At Rivermark Community Credit Union, service to our members is at the heart of everything we do. When you join Rivermark, you join a winning team of employees whose mission is “Rivermark makes life better with incredible financial solutions anywhere, anytime."
For over 60 years, our employees have worked to define what Rivermark is today. They are the foundation of our business, the key to continued growth and success in the future and the reason why Rivermark is a great company to work for!
Why We're Unique
1. Credit Unions Are Different From Other Financial Institutions
Rivermark Community Credit Union is an Oregon-based, not-for-profit financial cooperative, owned by the people who save and borrow here – our members. We do not issue stock or pay dividends to outside stockholders. Instead, earnings are returned to our members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits and lower fees.
Each credit union member has equal ownership and one vote, regardless of how much money a member has on deposit. Credit unions are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected by and from the credit union’s membership.
2. We've Been Serving Our Communities for Over 60 Years
In February 1951, 58 Safeway store employees listened to a presentation about the advantages of credit unions. We have evolved from first serving only Safeway employees and their families to our current community charter, adopted in 2004.
More than 60 years later, the credit union they formed is still going strong and now serves over 65,000 members.
3. We're Passionate
Rivermark Community Credit Union encourages our employees to be involved in the Credit Union and our community. Employee committees such as Community Affairs, Credit Unions for Kids, Governmental Affairs and Wellness provide volunteer opportunities for our employees to demonstrate that they truly care and are passionate about who we are and what we do!
4. We Are People Helping People
Credit unions exist to help people. This philosophy is evident in the many community activities and worthwhile causes that the Credit Union and our employees are involved in. Every year we contribute volunteer time and money to a variety of community outreach and philanthropic programs in our field of membership.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk to Cure Diabetes, Schoolhouse Supplies and SOLV river clean-ups are just a few of the ways that Rivermark Community Credit Union and its employees give back to the community.
Our enthusiasm for community involvement has resulted in the receipt of multiple Dora Maxwell Awards for Social Responsibility in Oregon! This award is presented by the Credit Union National Association for the outstanding social responsibility projects implemented within the credit union’s community. We are also the proud recipients of three consecutive Corporate Philanthropy Awards from the Portland Business Journal.
