Rivermark recently presented a $20,000 check to Janet Hamada, Executive Director of The Next Door. The organization's "Promoting Prosperity" program provides education, business planning resources, and guidance to help Latino entrepreneurs set up or expand their businesses. They also provide assistance in securing funding to help make their dream a reality.
The Next Door recently purchased a building in The Dalles to expand their services in the area. Rivermark was happy to partner with them to help with some of the capital expenditures for this expansion. To date, the Next Door has helped over thirty businesses in Hood River and Wasco Counties.
TiE Young Entrepreneurs Program Oregon is the 2016 recipient of a $3,750 grant from the Rivermark Community Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation with a goal to inspire, challenge and empower students to become the next generation of entrepreneurs, business and community leaders.
The Credit Union is also donating $11,250 to expedite the expansion of the program locally to two other high schools. The program is currently open to all high school students in the Portland Metro area with a satellite program at Benson Polytechnic High School. Seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors coach high school students based on a business-focused curriculum, which runs annually from November through May.
