Rivermark was recently on hand as eight local high school teams participated in the TiE Young Entrepreneurs State Competition.
Four teams were from Benson High School; a direct result of Rivermark’s 2016 Community Fund distribution to expand the program into two additional high school locations (Benson and Reynolds).
Over the course of seven months, these young entrepreneurs formalized their business concepts, organized their teams, conducted market research, created customer journey maps, designed prototypes and built apps/websites to sell their products.
The teams included:
- Author's Nook – Benson Polytechnic High School
- Greenblinds - Benson Polytechnic High School
- Tasteback – Central High School
- TrailHero – Benson Polytechnic High School
- Zipper Seal - Benson Polytechnic High School
- TentPack- Benson Polytechnic High School
- H(ear) – Central High School
- Hunter – Central High School
Three local judges were tasked with choosing a winning team (a near impossible task with so many talented teens!). The winning team created a start up called Tasteback, inspired by CEO Annie who requires specific dietary needs.
The Tasteback team won an all-expense paid trip to compete at the TYE Global Competition in Irvine, California at the end of June. Students will also have the opportunity to win participation in the Young Entrepreneurs Business Week - two great opportunities to help the students continue to work on their ventures!
The goal of the Rivermark Community Fund is to support organizations like TiE Oregon who promote local entrepreneurship and economic vitality. You can help support this important cause by making a tax-deductible donation online.
