Currently 1 in 6 people in our community do not have consistent access to adequate food. Oregon Food Bank works to feed these food insecure people as well as eliminating the root causes of hunger. Rivermark is proud to have a team of volunteers who regularly volunteer their time at the OFB.
Last Thursday, Rivermark employees (along with our friend RiverShark) joined a group of volunteers to sort, bag and box frozen peas to be shipped to families in need. In 2.5 hours of work, the volunteers were able to bag and box 6,308 pounds of frozen peas. That is enough for 5,256 meals! What a huge difference a group of people can make in just a few hours of time.
Volunteering is not only rewarding, it’s also fun! We encourage our members to get involved if they can. OFB has volunteer opportunities open for groups and individuals. There are even options for children to get in on the action.
