The South Wasco County Library project is one step closer to fruition thanks to some help from Rivermark.
In May Rivermark hosted a “challenge event” at the Imperial River Company to encourage local business in South Wasco County to donate money in support of a new library. Rivermark took the lead in encouraging other small businesses to participate by donating $7,500. The event was a huge success, bringing in over 500 donations from local businesses and the community with more donations expected over the summer.
The donations mean that the South Wasco County Library is well on its way to becoming a reality. In order to “qualify” for a $1 million Library Grant from private funders like Carnegie and/or Rockefeller, the community needed to demonstrate significant commitment by raising $100,000. We’re happy to report that over $80,000 has been raised and Maupin is now closer to making a compelling case for the grant.
Maupin Mayor Frank Kay says that the town could not have done this without the support of Rivermark and that many of the donations came as a result of Rivermark’s leadership.
Rivermark is proud to be a part of the Maupin community and to support this community-enhancing project that will serve South Wasco County for generations to come.
