Online Services Far Exceed Expectations

Beaverton, Ore. – Rivermark Community Credit Union is experiencing rapid growth in online and mobile banking as members take advantage of new banking technology.
"We are seeing a dramatic shift in how our members conduct their business with us. Our members are embracing this new ability to bank on-the-go; to open new accounts, sign loan documents and deposit checks remotely," said Scott Burgess, Rivermark's President/CEO. "Since they have around the clock access to financial services, they no longer have to depend on a branch for service."
Burgess said he was confident Rivermark's commitment to new technology was the right direction and would be an attractive feature to members. He admits he is pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming response and interest by members. In the past year, the number of members using Rivermark's Online Banking service has increased 34 percent and those using Mobile Banking jumped 86 percent. During the same time frame, the number of in-branch transactions has also declined steadily.
"While we're excited about the increased access and convenience we've provided our members, it's important to note that we do not intend to become a branchless credit union. Branches continue to play a vital role in our strategic direction.
Rivermark intends to be among the financial institutions that are always striving to be cutting edge.
In fact, Rivermark was the first Oregon credit union to implement Mobile Deposit in March 2012. In five months, nearly 10,000 members deposited more than 31,000 paper checks using their iPhone or Android mobile device.
Rivermark also launched an E-Signature service allowing members to sign loan documents anywhere they have internet access, including on their smart phone. Since the service was launched in February 2012, more than 1,000 loan applications have been signed electronically from mobile and online devices.
