What is the Credit Union Difference?

The Rivermark Difference

What makes Rivermark different from other financial institutions? Rivermark is a local, not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that is different from typical for-profit financial institutions, not only in structure, but also in social purpose. As a credit union we are committed to helping our members get the most out of life. The following is a summary of some of the key services that Rivermark currently offers to our membership and community.

Locally Owned

Rivermark is owned by its members and headquartered in Beaverton. Local ownership means our members are investing in the economic vitality of the community in which they live and work. It also means that our members have access to the board of the credit union.

Financial Literacy/Dollar Dog Program and Go! Teen Program

Rivermark is committed to promoting financial literacy for young members. We do this by investing in the Dollar Dog Kids' Club and GO! Money Teen Program.

  • Dollar Dog Club (Ages 0-12)

Children earn one Dollar Dog coin to redeem for fun prizes for every $10 branch deposit they make. Their money also earns a higher interest rate than a regular savings account to encourage good saving habits. Kids also receive a quarterly newsletter with savings tips and receive a birthday card from Dollar Dog.

  • GO! Money Teen Program (Ages 13-17)

Our program includes a full range of services including a savings account with a higher dividend rate, free checking, a $500 limit Visa credit card, a College Saver CD with a $100 minimum deposit, and a special website - www.rivermarkteens.org. Teens are required to pass a series of online tutorials before opening a checking or loan product to promote financial responsibility.

Community Involvement

Because we live here and work here too, we like to give back to the community. Each year many of our employees participate in programs such as SMART, Doernbecher, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Oregon Food Bank, School House Supplies, Neighborhood House, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Newberg Old Fashioned Days, Division/Clinton Street Fair, Belmont Street Fair, Newberg Harvest Fest, Festival Japan, and the ORA Pro-Start Program.
